Neil Breen’s debut marks return to local on 4BC Brisbane breakfast
The city of Brisbane has awoken to a new local breakfast show on 4BC.
The arrival of journalist Neil Breen, who replaces out-going host Alan Jones, flags another fresh start for Nine this week and a welcomed return to city-centric programming for listenrs.
Breen has been one of Nine’s most senior sports reporters and presenters for a number of years, following a distinguished career in newspapers.
He joined Nine at the end of 2012 as executive producer of the Today Show and has since been a sports reporter in Sydney and the network’s various sports shows.
The broadcaster has moved “home” to Brisbane after Tom Malone named him the new host of 4BC Brisbane breakfast last month, debuting on-air today with a tribute to Jones’ career.
“On Friday, the break Alan Jones retired after an unparalleled, unprecedented 35-year career in radio,” said Breen. “Jones rewrote the record book when it came to radio.”
Been also said he was “very very proud to be here”, promising to tackle the serious issues and to have some fun along the way.
Former drive host Ben Fordham also made his debut on 2GB Sydney breakfast today.
