More radio departures at SCA

Reporter

News of yet more sad departures at SCA this week, with Hit Network Image Producer Chris Kubacki among the latest to leave the network, his position made redundant.

Chris started his journey as a junior audio producer at Sydney’s 2Day FM, later moving to Melbourne’s Fox FM to work on two national network shows.

As well as working at stations such as SeaFM in Hobart, Chris road-tripped across the Nullabor for a year-long adventure as an audio creative at Perth’s Nova 937, before returning to Sydney, working on 2Day FM’s Breakfast show.

In a LinkedIn post, Chris said “Last week, my journey with 2DayFM Sydney came to an end. I just wanted to thank those whom I’ve worked with both in office and interstate, for twelve massive years!”

“The experiences, the opportunities, the collaborating, the laughing and crying – it’s been an absolute blast. But more importantly, the team letting me push boundaries in audio production across each and every show I’ve been apart of! You let me grow more than I could have ever imagined.”

“To think I was the kid who didn’t know what a plugin was! But, like any redundancy, new beginnings await – until then, sleep-ins got me hard for the next little bit.”

“2Day, thank you for investing in my passion, and moving me around this beautiful country.”

Also leaving SCA is popular 2Day FM announcer, producer and panel op Nicholas O’Hara.

A Bond University Juris Doctor graduate, Nick has worked as a presenter, MC, voice-over artist and radio announcer for the better chunk of the last decade.

Nick posted to LinkedIn “An incredible three years with 2DayFM is coming to a close.”

“Working as an announcer, and alongside Hughesy, Ed and Erin in Breakfast has been a thrill.”

“Now … it’s time to turn off that 4am alarm!”

Both these talents will not be “on the beach” for long.

With the departure/redundancy of the Hit Network’s Image Producer, I wonder if there’s likely to be a major relaunch of the brand in 2025?

Because these sorts of things happening are often hints at big changes on the horizon…

hey Pete. Ever lost a job before? It’s not fun. See if you can be a little less snarky and a little more empathic when you’re talking about someone in this situation. Hope you’re doing ok Nicholas – I’m sure there’ll be something around the corner for you.
