Happy days: WA’s Radio Margaret River goes FM

Reporter

“Our ascent is just beginning and we are excited for the journey ahead.”

For Radio Margaret River Station Manager Richard Lee Pullen, being awarded an FM broadcast licence is something akin to reaching base camp on Mount Everest.

The big news was revealed during Radio Margaret River’s fourth birthday celebrations at The River Hotel at the weekend.

In what is considered a monumental step forward for the WA online community station, Radio Margaret River will soon be heard on 101.9FM, expanding its reach and broadcasting from Busselton to Dunsborough and Margaret River to Hamelin Bay.

Created by a passionate and skilled group of volunteers, the not-for-profit station was the first of its kind in state’s South West.

The station expects to go to air on its new frequency early next year.

Upcoming technical upgrades will also see the Radio Margaret River studios moved to the local Mens Shed over the coming months.
