Macquarie Media confirm replacement for Ross Greenwood

Former Publisher

Following the shock exit of Ross Greenwood, Macquarie Media have confirmed a new host for Money News in 2020.

Business journalist Brooke Corte will takeover hosting duties five nights a week across 2GB Sydney, 3AW Melbourne and 4BC Brisbane from January.

Macquarie’s head of content, Greg Byrnes, confirmed Corte’s appointment.

“Money News is an integral part of our program schedule wrapping the day in business and giving listeners what they need to know on the way home,” said Byrnes.

“I’m very happy that a journalist of Brooke’s calibre will take over the reins as the show moves into 2020.”

Corte has been a business journalist for almost 20 years, spending most of that time on Sky News Business.

She led the coverage and analysis of the biggest business and economic stories for a decade on First Edition and Your Money Live.

Former Money News host Roos Greenwood is ‘taking a break’ from radio next year.

Next year, Money News will be reduced to one hour from 7pm to make way for hour-long Wide World of Sports show announced yesterday (December 16).

On revealing his decision to leave last week, Greenwood alluded to changes in management and the future direction of the show as his reasons for walking.

“Here at the radio station, they were keen for it to continue in some way, shape or form but they wanted change,” said Greenwood on-air on Thursday. “There’s new management here.”

“I didn’t necessarily agree with some of the changes they wanted to put in place, so I simply said, ‘this is an easy decision,’ I’ve wanted to take the year off.”

Greenwood had been with 2GB for ten years and a regular fixture on Nine TV shows.

Chris Smith, Steve Price, George Moore all gone.

Apparently 2GB are targeting a younger, female audience?

I get the feeling that 2GB management know little about radio.

I think 2GB’s new management has a death wish!! I can’t believe they would meddle with what has been successful for so long!

From reading these comments, you’d think people only want to listen to ‘Angry White Men’ on talkback radio. Who’d have thought that adding a couple of female voices on air would be ‘successfully stuffing up’ or ‘a death wish’!?

Extraordinary reactions as we step towards 2020. These changes were long overdue.. well done Nine I say!

Chris Smith was replaced by Steve Price because they wanted Steve on afternoons. Now Steve has gone.
Chris is a big loss. I don’t listen anymore.
