Mix 102.3’s Maria Gaban shares harrowing breast cancer story
Mix 102.3 news reader Maria Gaban has shared the emotional story of her shock cancer diagnosis on Today Tonight Adelaide.
Maria was still grieving the loss of her son Julius when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
“Losing our son was absolutely the hardest thing,” she told Today Tonight. “He didn’t have a fighting chance, but I’m still here.”
She was able to fall pregnant again and give birth to daughter Trinity.
But four months after giving birth, a biopsy came back as positive for cancer.
“Having a newborn without having chemo is difficult… so having two kids and chemo, yep, tough!”
Maria hopes that sharing her story will encourage other women to check their own breasts.
Becoming a new mum can be a tough task in itself. But imagine doing it while still grieving the loss of a child, then being diagnosed with breast cancer.
