Mix 102.3’s Hayley Pearson opens up about her brother’s addiction struggles

This morning on Mix 102.3’s Hayley & Max in Morning, Hayley Pearson opened up about her brother’s addiction struggles.

“Yesterday was World Addiction Day and I made a promise to my brother that I would talk about it.  If you don’t know, I lost my older brother 13 years ago – he was 34 – to alcohol addiction.”

“I am doing it because before he passed away, he said to me that if something happens to me, will you promise that you will talk about it? And I have this job where we have a platform to talk about it.”

“I usually block it out, but every year the only times I talk about it are on 21 March which is his birthday and on 10 November the anniversary of this death.”

 “I want people to know that young people can die from addiction and alcohol addiction.  I want to break this stigma.”
