Michael Robertson on the move from NewFM
Reporter
Tomorrow will mark Michael Robertson’s last show on Newcastle’s 105.3 NewFM as Afternoons announcer.
Michael began with the station announcing Love Songs at Night in December 2021.
Since July last year he has presented the afternoon workday shift and has been heard on stints producing breakfast.
Moving back to his hometown of Sydney, Michael says he’s excited for what’s ahead in his media/radio career and to “spend a lot more time with my unbelievably supportive and patient partner.”
“I am so grateful for the risk NewFM took on a radio tragic in Bundaberg. I’ve learnt so much here, fallen in love with the town and hopefully made the workday a little easier on Novocastrians,” he says.
Seems like this station has had a LOT of talent churn over the last couple of years.
Not that the SRN probably cares at all about their talent or stations
BET SEN WILL SIGN MICHAEL ROBERTSON AS A RUGBY LEAGUE CALLER
Something has got to change at NEW if they are serious about trying to take on SCA. The amount of jocks who have left in the last 12-18 months… Newy is prime for a shake up, Novacastrians are so sick of the same old same old.
Triple M and Hit continue to top the ratings not because they’re doing anything particularly great, but because NEW is so bad that it’s SCA or nothing from a local standpoint.
In a perfect world, ARN or Nova would buy NEW, run the broom through the place from the top down, hit the reset button and truly shake things up.
I guess we can dream…
Wow they’ve lost a LOT of talent in the last 2 years. Lizzie Stokes, Jade Leeder, Jackson Brunner, Matty Harrison…why are they all leaving? Have noticed their weekend announcer list on the website has shrunk dramatically over that time as well.
Given Meg Alexander is no longer on breakfast, I reckon it’s only a matter of time before she exits the station.
Confirmed, Meg has also left the station.
