Nova’s Marty Sheargold returns to stand-up
Marty Sheargold has announced his return the stand-up stage.
The Nova Network Drive host is hitting the road for a rare comedy tour, crisscrossing the country with six shows in five cities.
Marty hasn’t performed stand-up for two years, quitting the scene when he landed a full-time gig on radio in 2002 on SAFM Breakfast.
He then started hosting The Shebang on Drive in Melbourne with Fifi Box and hadn’t looked back since, until now.
He told news.com.au that giving up drinking last year and losing 30kg left him re-energised and ready to return to stand-up.
“I was so re-energised after losing that weight that I just started thinking, “What are you doing, mate?” he said.
“You’re doing the same stuff every day, which is fine, but you’re just pushing on.” Really, I should be challenging myself as a performer, I should be wanting to be better than I am.”
