Mark Scott: “The ABC will seek to protect content wherever possible

Staff Writer

With the Budget cuts announced by Malcolm Turnball, ABC Managing Director Mark Scott has confirmed that jobs will be axed at the ABC to meet the $250 plus million shortfall over the next five years.

He spoke last night at a Senate hearing.

“The ABC will look to find efficiencies in its operations and support services to find the savings required”

“The ABC will seek to protect content wherever possible”, said Mark Scott

ABC staff will learn of their fate next Monday.

"Our staff will learn on Monday that there will be significant job cuts…As the Minister conceded yesterday there's no way of reaching these savings without significant job cuts, and they will have an impact across the country. But that's the reality we have to deal with."
