Mamamia launches The Delivery Room, a podcast which looks at what actually happens in childbirth

Women’s audio and publishing giant Mamamia has partnered with pregnancy vitamins company Elevit to create a podcast all about the truths of giving birth.

The Delivery Room is an eight-part series hosted by Mamamia’s Jessie Stephens, who also co-hosts its flagship program Mamamia Out Loud.

The new podcast is billed as a candid account of everything that happens in the delivery room, and whether or not it stacks up to expectations.

Mamamia’s head of content, Holly Wainwright, said the final product is a must-listen for anyone thinking about pregnancy.

“Our pre-parent audience is deeply interested in pregnancy and childbirth. They know it’s an area of life that they can’t plan perfectly, but they’re hungry to be as armed with as many genuine first-person lived experiences as they can get their ears around. We knew that Mamamia and Elevit could bring these stories to life in a fascinating, authentic and even funny way with much-loved host Jessie Stephens as our curious questioner, and a diverse range of mothers telling their truth,” she said.

Suzanne Kwan, Elevit’s marketing manager at Bayer ANZ, said the podcast was born from the insight that women need reassurance along their pregnancy journey.

“In partnership with Mamamia, we’re proud to bring women a channel for accessing real-life delivery room stories, connecting women from different backgrounds for a unique exploration and celebration of one of life’s most special moments,” Kwan said.

Mamamia has worked on a number of branded podcasts before, including The Split, Hello, Bump and What The Finance with Westpac, and That’s Incredible with Subaru.

The company also recently launched a paid subscription platform for additional audio content and announced record listenership for Mamamia Out Loud.
