Mamamia Out Loud podcast reports record listeners & announces live show

Staff Writer

Mamamia’s flagship podcast, Mamamia Out Loud, has reported a 54% year-on-year increase in listeners.

The publisher noted COVID-19 had accelerated the intimate medium’s rapid growth.

The Omny Studio data compares February 2020 to February 2021. As the pandemic ramped up, so did Mamamia Out Loud’s output, with hosts Mia Freedman, Jessie Stephens and Holly Wainwright upping it from two episodes per week to three.

The podcast also announced it would be going on a live tour this spring.

The live version of the podcast will cover “what women are talking about”, in line with Mamamia’s ethos.

Mamamia also noted podcasting’s growing role in the cultural conversation, which has helped the publisher attract a variety of guests. In recent months, Mamamia founder Freedman has had NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian on her No Filter podcast, as well as Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg and former deputy leader of the Opposition, Tanya Plibersek.

Both Freedman and Wainwright made Radio Today’s Podcast Power Players list in February.
