Kyle: ‘I’m the King’

Staff Writer

Kyle Sandilands can never be accused of not being prepared to celebrate his successes, and in an article in The Australian today he has had a few cracks at Southern Cross Austereo.

Asked if he only left 2Day for the money, he commented:

"Not really, they always protected themselves and were happy to throw any staff member under the bus, even when they were driving that bus.

"But the financial reason was a large part of leaving. I’d rather be with a company that shares the profit. No one likes a greedy bunch."

Asked about the ratings last week, and if he expected them to come through so dramatically:

"I always wanted it to be quick but I thought it would take two or three surveys before everyone caught on where we had moved to"

When The Australian remarked that the Kyle & Jackie O Show sounded less risque than before, Kyle had another dig.

"No, the show is in no way deliberately trying to sound any less of anything. In actual fact we have less restrictions now than we did at Yesterday … I mean 2Day."

And when asked if he considers himself the 'King of Breakfast Radio', Kyle had a one word answer;

"Yes".
