KIX Country South West to launch on DAB+ in WA next month

West Coast Radio will have another DAB+ station, with KIX Country South West launching next month.

Launching on December 1, KIX South West will broadcast on the West Coast Radio’s DAB+ multiplexer and sit alongside local stations 91.7 The Wave and 97.3 Coast FM, with SEN Peel soon to join the line-up.

For the lineup, KIX Country South West will syndicate the Ray Hadley Country Music hour, as well as the Caravanning and Off-Road Radio Show, hosted by Robert ‘The Duck’ Smith. Ticket giveaways will also be a regular feature on the station.

In a statement, West Coast Radio’s content director John De Bellis said the decision to launch Country South West in WA had been years in the making.

“As the date gets closer, the team is really excited. Country music has such a mass appeal. It’s a popular brand we have wanted to bring to the south west for many years. It reflects our great lifestyle – you will love it,” he said.

“KIX Country South West is part of the number one country music radio network that can be heard on 58 stations and reaches more than 4.3 million people.”

KIX Country first went to air in 2003 and is primarily broadcast by Grant Broadcasters, however some stations are operated in a joint venture with Capital Radio Network.

It has traditional stations in NSW, Victoria, Queensland, the ACT, South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory, and DAB+ stations in Darwin, Perth, Hobart and Canberra.

… so KIX is a narrowcast station on FM? … no KIX is a commercial station on DAB+? … doesn’t the ACMA say it can’t be both?

SEN does exactly the same thing.
