JOY 94.9 announces new professional Breakfast show

Staff Writer

Melbourne LGBTIQA+ community radio station JOY 94.9 has announced a boost in funding will allow it to debut a new professional JOY Breakfast show.

The station is part of Australia’s leading LGBTIQA+ independent media organisation, and revealed that philanthropic support from patrons Geoffrey Smith and Gary Singer will allow the station to engage two professional Breakfast presenters.

The financial support is the most significant of its kind provided to community media by individuals in Australia, and JOY said it is extremely grateful for its patrons.

The new JOY Breakfast show will kick off in April, going out love each Weekday from 6:30am – 9am on JOY 94.9 and DAB+ radio, as well as streamed globally on iHeartRadio.

The show is set to showcasing professional community radio, with inclusive values, strong listener interaction and national/international focus, and its podcast will be available on streaming platforms.

JOY is currently recruiting for the exciting project, with applications being taken at cbaa.org.au

JOY 94.9 is one of only four LGBTIQA+radio stations in the world to broadcast 24/7.

Radio Today has requested further details about the funding from Joy 94.9.
