Jon celebrates 30 years in radio
Jon Vertigan embarked on one of life’s great adventures back in 1992, when his parents drove him to Swan Hill to begin his radio career.
This week Jon – who co-hosts the Breakfast Show on Melbourne’s Easy Music 3MP with his good mate Julie Strini – celebrates thirty years in radio, and says he wouldn’t swap what he does for quids:
“Starting at Swan Hill feels like a lifetime ago. I’ve made so many lifelong friendships along the way.”
Jon – son of Melbourne radio great and former 3UZ personality John Vertigan – has spent much of those three decades career on-air, working throughout regional Victoria, Melbourne and Sydney.
Now married to Kelli and with two teenage children, Jon recently confided that he has the ‘breakfast’ part of the breakfast radio routine down pat, starting each morning with his signature protein shake:
“Protein powder, a banana, a little bit of cinnamon and some oat milk. Whack it in the Thermomix for forty seconds with some ice and a little bit of water, and I find that if I have that during the seven o’clock news – it’s really good. It keeps me full until lunchtime and it’s yummy.”
