“If you don’t like how I do an interview, don’t watch it.” Karl Stefanovic opens up to Piers Morgan
Just hours after reports that Karl Stefanovic had lost his radio gig with ARN, a new episode of his podcast has been released – in which he opens up to British broadcaster Piers Morgan about his dramatic exit from Nine’s Today Show.

As the pair sit together on a yacht – bonding over their shared history as TV Breakfast hosts (and their controversial departures from those jobs) – Stefanovic addresses the fallout from his podcast interview with British right wing activist Tommy Robinson.
In his chat with Morgan – recorded just hours after he officially parted ways with Nine – Stefanovic said he was feeling “a bit discombobulated” by the outrage it generated.
“I know that he’s hot, but it didn’t seem to me when you’re from Australia, you’re over in the UK, it was just a legitimate interview.”
Stefanovic accused his former TV employer of “cancel culture,” emphasising that he is all about freedom of speech.
“It’s painful, because I love Australia, as you know, I love the audience, and I work really f***ing hard. … I think it’s important that I keep campaigning, and I keep driving forward with freedom of speech.”
“If you don’t like the way I do an interview, then don’t watch it.”
Stefanovic becomes emotional when he talks about the toll it’s taken on his wife and family.
“Because she puts up with a lot … I’m in the public eye a lot and I really do work hard and I’m away a bit and she knows what I’m trying to do with this podcast so I’m doing that and that and some radio – and it’s like I’m doing it all for the family.”
“But she’s on her own a lot and for me you know to hear her upset was the hardest thing.”
ARN Media is yet to issue a statement or confirm reports Stefanovic has been axed from The Long Weekend, the Friday afternoon radio show he’d been hosting alongside Eddie McGuire.
McGuire and Stefanovic’s representatives have also been contacted for comment.
