Johnny and Inkie for Cairns’ Star 102.7

Star 102.7‘s new breakfast team in Cairns will be Johnny & Inkie as Johnny Wilson steps into the shoes of Dave Warner, who retired after more than two decades with the station at the end of last year.

Wilson joins Inkie Bissell on the No 1 rating breakfast show in Cairns. Inkie has also been part of Star for 16 years.

Wilson said of his new role:

“I think my first reaction to finding out I had the job of being Inkie’s new mate on air and waking up with Cairns weekday mornings was a bunch of not very radio friendly words. To say I was excited is an understatement. The journey to get to this point has been incredibly long, difficult, exciting and interesting to say the least, but I finally feel like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be!

Working with someone as experienced and incredibly talented as Inkie is a dream come true and the new team that we are building behind the scenes including Content Director Stu Tolan and new General Manager Jim Ybema is a team that I believe is ready to do some really big things this year and beyond! Lastly to all the Cairns locals, Inkie has expressed how much this show is like a family and I am committed to become a thriving member of it.”

Johnny & Inkie commence together on Monday January 29 at 6am.
