Joe Hildebrand joins 2GB

Former Editor & Content Director

Media personality and commentator Joe Hildebrand is set to join Sydney’s 2GB from this evening.

The former co-anchor of television’s Studio 10 will join John Stanley from 8pm to 9pm, with The Daily Telegraph reporting there are plans to expand his presence on the program over time.

Hildebrand’s previous high-profile gig on Network 10’s Studio 10 ended a week ago. He decided to leave the program and the television network after significant shake-ups of the panel, including the departure of panellists Kerri-Anne Kennerley and Natarsha Belling.

“We all know the show’s getting a bit of a shake up,” he said on his final television broadcast with the program.

“Channel 10 and my lovely bosses asked me if I’d stay on in a new role. We talked about it really openly and warmly, about what that might look like. And they were really keen and they were really lovely about it, so don’t lash out at them. But I just thought, probably just better to draw a line under this amazing little story.”

Now, just over a week later, he will be heard on radio, something he said he was “absolutely thrilled” about.

“Can’t wait to hear from you every Thursday at 8pm. Call us on the open line (I always wanted to say that) 131 873,” he said on Instagram.

He told The Daily Telegraph he suspects a lot of his Studio 10 loyalists are also 2GB listeners.

“These are battlers from the suburbs, people who live in the real world, who like straight talk and big laughs and I can’t wait to reconnect with them,” the paper’s ‘Confidential’ section reported him as saying.

Stanley has moved around Nine Radio’s timeslots in recent years. He took over Nights in August last year following talent changes including the departure of Steve Price. He has also hosted The Weekend Edition and Macquarie Sports Radio Breakfast back in 2018 with Beau Ryan on the now defunct Macquarie Sports Radio.

Nine Radio, which owns and operates 2GB, has been contacted for further comment.

What a joke! What 2GB does not need is more fluffy lightweights signing up! What the listening audience want back are the metaphorical “Head Kickers” in the style that made the station what it was for the last forty plus years!

The people who say 2gb is Left wing must not listen to it ….. Ben Ray Deb Jim Mark John and especially Michael are very much Conservative, why do you think they criticise ABC for their Left wing bias reporting ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️

Hi Joe, I still cant understand what the parents, relatives etc of these poor girls doing, when they would undoubtly see these kids with money, clothes and trips. Surely they would be asking questions and following up. where were they. it is all so bad. Ruined lives.
