Jo and Lehmo out as ARN announces changes to GOLD 104.3 Breakfast in 2018

Staff Writer

ARN has today announced changes to GOLD 104.3 Breakfast in 2018, with ARN not renewing the contracts of current breakfast hosts Jo Stanley and Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann.

As a result, they will not be returning to the station in the new year.

ARN’s National Content Director Duncan Campbell thanked the duo for their service: “Jo and Lehmo are professional, talented and entertaining broadcasters who have made a significant contribution to GOLD 104.3 over their time with the station”.

“Jo & Lehmo will remain on air until the end of 2017, with further details of the plans for GOLD 104.3 to be announced shortly.”

Earlier this month, Radio Today reported that Lehmo may not return to the station next year, instead replaced by anchor Troy Ellis.

The pair had also just recorded one of their best surveys to date, becoming the #1 FM breakfast show in Melbourne, overtaking Fox FM in Survey 7.

Chrissie Swan, Robin Bailey, Matt Tilley, Mishel Lawrie, Dave and Kate, and now this. Thank God you lucked out with Kyle and Jackie Duncan, because the rest of the network is entirely your hot mess.

So what’s the goss… who is going to replace them?

Perhaps networking Jonesy and Amanda ???

The Matt and Jo reunion talk is obviously not happening.

What about a Smooth style jock + newsreader?

Word is they are shipping over some more NZ talent for GOLD.

Instead of sacking two people who laughed at their own jokes, and were as entertaining as paint drying, could GOLD focus on playing different songs each day?

Seriously, its the same playlist EVERY FREAKING DAY, EVERY FREAKING WEEK!

I wonder if management understand the whole reason that they are in business. To finish the year on top, would clearly have assisted building a greater audience in 2018, yet Jo & Lehmo get the sack.

I was also expecting a Matt Tilley and Jo Stanley announcement at the very least.

KIIS is a basket case in Melbourne and with their 2018 ‘lineup’ and the arrogance to play the same 5 songs all day everyday, there will be no improvement.

This makes no sense. Celebrations on survey day last week, and then “by the way – don’t let the door hit you on the way out”

What are you doing ARN?!!!!!!

What’s up with ARN? In the last few years they have sacked Grubby & Deedee, Brigitte Duclos, Chrissie Swan, Jane Hall, Matt & Meshel, Hughesy & Kate, Robyn Bailey and now Jo & Lehmo. Did I miss anyone?
It reads like a role call of people they should be trying to keep! Seems *someone* has a problem with radio talent.

I really hope that Duncan also nabbed Sarah, Sam & Toni from NZME station The Hits.

I think Duncan has really cooked this one – wow. I feel for that team, they finallly knock off Fox FM (which im sure was satisfying for Troy and Jo) and the next week they’re out?

None of this makes any sense!

ARN should rebrand WS-FM 101.7 Sydney to Gold FM 101.7 and network Jonesy and Amanda from Sydney to Melbourne

ARN are turning KIIS Melbourne into The Edge and turning GOLD into Cruise. Melbourne is not Adelaide or Penrith.

I think that Jase and PJ might work on KIIS. Ratings performances in recent years demonstrates that the breakfast shift has been important in keeping KIIS 101.1 resilient in a tough ratings battle (people may have forgotten that this station dipped as low as 2Day currently is about a decade back). I reckon there’s something special about these two and I look forward to hearing them give it their best. But besides Triple M, Jase and PJ have got the toughest gig to take on. So it’s dumbfounding how ARN would double the risk-taking with a new show on GOLD (or worse, networking from Sydney) by axing the latest ratings winner in FM breakfast. Or maybe that’s over-complicating things….maybe it’s just plain dumb! Macquarie ought to see the light, restore a local breakfast shift on Talking Lifestyle (you know…1278…there’s barely a pulse but it’s still there). There is plenty of exiting FM talent to court and the likes of Grubby and Dee Dee and Richard Stubbs demonstrated there can be life after FM, only smarter.

This Jo and Lehmo/ Hughsey and Kate debacle will go down in history as one of radios biggest eff ups.
Wonder if D.C’s salary will be reflected accordingly.

Perspective
22 Nov 2017 - 11:57 am

Guys let’s get perspective here. Jo and Lehmo were NOT axed, nor were Hughesy & Kate, nor were Matt & Meshel. Their contracts ended and were not renewed! NOT AXED. Big difference. There’s a reason they were on contracts, and not ongoing positions! Why is everyone going on about how these guys were axed, when it’s simply their contracts were not renewed!!?

Oh perspective, oh dear oh dear. I feel like I want to protect you being humiliated here.

You really have taken a large gulp of the HR semantics fizzy drink, and sadly no-one in this industry believes your ‘perspective’ perspective!
Whats happened is the show and talent are being replaced. Yes?
In common language, (not even just this industry) when you’re being replaced one would say that you’ve been axed.

Please maintain a shred of credibility by not posting such tripe. Surely you don’t even believe your own words…

All the best.
