Jade McDonald takes over Afternoons on Townsville’s Star 106.3

Reporter

Jade McDonald is living proof that persistence pays off.

After months of putting in the yards, filling on-air gaps and seizing every opportunity on offer, Jade has officially taken over as the host of ARN’s Star 106.3 Afternoons in Townsville.

For almost one and a half years, Jade’s been the Administration and Sales Coordinator for Star106.3, Power 100 and KIX Country.

But in recent months Jade – a longtime volunteer presenter at community radio station Triple T – has been filling in on Star 106.3 Afternoons, balancing her on-air duties with her regular daily workload.

Now, she’s fulfilled an on-air dream.

Confirming the news on LinkedIn, Jade says she’s grateful for the opportunity:

“Here’s to STAR ARVOS WITH JADE!”

“After months of putting in the yards” Wow months….I’m sure that was very “hard” Did she almost break a sweat? Some people work years….literally Decades. What a tone deaf thing to say. Congrats to her though.

@CD – What a negative, grumpy thing to say. Why not celebrate achievements of others?

@Nick

Literally said congrat to her champ.

The point was… The comment she work at it for a couple of months as if that’s some sort of struggle. Tone deaf.

But sure… no one can be critical of anything.

Years back it wasn’t easy to get a gig on air but these days any Tom Dick or Harry can get a gig . I worked at a station once where the manager gave the receptionist a go. He gave her the copywriting gig along with an on air shift . She had no clue how to write copy never been on air before ! it didn’t end all that well.

@CD Jade has been in and around the radio industry for years, putting in the yards at 4TTT up here in Townsville, she has been consistently over delivering behind the scenes in the office and then running a weekend shift for the better part of a year. I say all that to then say, not only does Jade not but actually, no one owes you a resume and I apologies that whatever has happened in your day makes you believe you need one, or that you have worked so much harder than others

cheers brother
