Is Australian Made Getting a Good Run on Commercial Radio?
The ARIA’s came and went last night on TV, while many industry execs were there in the crowd; two things stood out from Tina Arena’s (short :)) Hall of Fame Award speech, she said: “I implore Australian radio to base your playlist on the quality of the song, and not the age of the artist”
And the kicker: “Don’t meet your Australian quotas because you have to. Exceed them because you want to.”
So has Tina got it right? Is Commercial Radio playing enough Australian Artists beyond meeting that magical quota number for a format? Is there “Ageism”?
