International award for KIX Country’s Justin Thomson
KIX Country’s Justin Thomson has won international recognition, acknowledged by the Country Music Association for his contribution to country music.
Justin received the 2024 International Country Broadcaster Award during this year’s CMC Rocks event in Queensland.
The award recognises the outstanding achievement of a radio broadcaster or syndicated radio reporter outside the United States who has made important contributions for the development of country music.
Passionate about the genre, Justin is a true force when it comes to promoting country music within Australia. Past Aussie winners of this award have included John Laws and Ray Hadley.

It’s been 13 years since an Australian last received the honour – making Justin’s recognition even more significant.
He has brought KIX Country to Nashville multiple times for events including the CMA Fest, the CMA Awards and CMA Country Christmas.
His career at KIX has also seen him travel to Canada to cover the CCMA Awards and to the UK to cover C2C.
Justin says “There is no higher honour in country music than being presented with a CMA Award and I’m blown away by the response I’ve had from industry around the world. The two things I love more than anything are radio and country music, and I feel very lucky to be able to combine the two.”
“It’s a really exciting time for the genre and with the great team we have at ARN working on our country brands, we are leading the way in country music media. I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of growing country radio in Australia.”
Justin is the National Content Director of KIX Country and iHeart Country and can be heard during Afternoons on Kix Country between 2pm-6pm, as well as on iHeart Country.

This is an absolutely amazing achievement. Justin used to be a children’s TV presenter in Perth 20 years ago and look how far he has come! A special award for a special man.
