Hit Southwest dominates in Bunbury – Xtra Insights
It was a pretty one sided result in the coastal WA region of Bunbury in the latest Xtra Insights survey of the region, with Hit Southwest on top with a 30.9% audience share of all audiences 10+ and Breakfast with Allan & Carly increasing 2.4 to 35.1.
Mornings with Scott Martin went up 5.1 to 28.3
Triple M Southwest saw gains overall (+1.7 to 10.4) and SEN Spirit will also be happy, doubling its audience from the addition of local shows.
The local ABC South West saw losses as did triple j, although triple j’s Concetta and Luka (-4.8 to 11.5) just held on to second spot in breakfast.
There were positives in cumulative listening to Hit, Triple M and SEN Spirit. The region was last surveyed two years ago.
SCA Head of Regional Content Blair Woodcock said “Congrats to the entire Bunbury team today for these amazing survey results!”
“Both stations are celebrating with Triple M and HIT setting their highest ever cume figures showing their strength and connection to the local community.
“On top of that, it’s an amazing result for the drive home with Cliff Reeve who continued to grow his shift after more than 30 years with SCA. Cliff’s commitment to the local community is second to none, and these results are a testament to that.
“Also, a shout out to the entire HIT team today who have returned some solid growth across Breakfast with Allan & Carly and through the Workday in particular!
“The SCA South West team should be incredibly proud of their achievements this survey, as it now reaches an incredible 57% of the market!
“Well done to everyone involved.”

Triple J bombs again. Too woke. It’s been on the decline for 2-3 years now.
And yet its still out rating the “fiercely local” triple m in every shift
and yet…
When you compare the 2 local AM’s of TRIPLE M SW and ABC LOCAL SW, it seems that the ‘fiercely local’ Triple M is actually outrating the taxpayer-wasting ABC local?
Then when you compare the 2 more ‘national’ FM brands of HIT and Triple J, and it seems ABC is failing again with Hit smashing it.
So, when you compare format ‘apples with apples’ and AM/FM delivery comparison, what was your point again @tim???
Triple J is probably outrating Triple M in Bunbury because…the latter station is only available on AM?
Hit Southwest is the market’s only FM commercial station AFAIK, so no major surprise they’ve got a thumping majority in the ratings.
