Hinch’s last week on 3AW

Staff Writer

This is Derryn Hinch's last week on 3AW. Yesterday he said on his program:

"For me, personally, it is not really such a good afternoon. It’s a strange feeling sitting behind this microphone today. I want to be here – but, in a way, I don’t. The countdown is on to my departure from 3AW. This is my last Monday program. Not my idea. But life goes on.

During these final five programs, we’ll try to treat things to as professionally as possible, bringing you the news and views – yours and mine – the same way we have in this time slot for the past decade.

And I plan to wait until Friday for a special final program to thank you for your support on-air and off-air during some great professional highs and some personal highs and lows.

Along the way, we’ll be playing some Hinch on Drive flashbacks. A few reminders of some of the gems that studded the program through the years. And it won’t be maudlin. I'm well aware that in these tough economic times a lot of people have been pink-slipped and are doing it tough."

Yesterday's Drive Flashback was a classic moment from listener 'Angry Ron':

Today the Flashback was Hinch vs Wendy Peirce: "I wouldn't pee on you if your teeth were on fire"
