Ryan Rathbone continues to climb the corporate ladder at Grant Broadcasters.

It was only last December when the independent radio network appointed Rathbone regional content director for Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Now less than five months later, he’s been appointed group content director for network.

He returned to Australia to join the group in 2019, after spending five years working in New Zealand for The Edge Network and Mediaworks across content and talent.

At the 2019 New Zealand Radio Awards he was awarded Content Director Of The Year.

Rathbone is now responsible for all on-air talent and content teams across more than 50 stations controlled by the regional Australian radio business.

In a release sent to trade media on Thursday night, the broadcaster said he will be “instrumental in driving the company’s music strategies” and will also work closely with the digital team.

Grant Broadcasters’ CEO, Alison Cameron, said Rathbone would continue the groups “exceptional local programming” when he steps into the new role, effective immediately.

“Ryan has had a hugely positive impact on our creative and content product in QLD since he joined the company earlier this year.

“He will now be working closely with our existing Regional Content Directors in the other markets to roll out these strategies.”

Rathbone will report directly to Rick Lenarcic and Cameron, and joins the leadership team.

Grant Broadcasters also confirmed the search for a new content director for the Queensland and the Northern Territory markets is already underway.

Another move to becoming a major network in Australia. I reckon once Zetta has rolled out they’ll start streamlining the station names.
