George FM announce new breakfast show

Staff Writer

George FM (part of MediaWorks in NZ) is losing its breakfast host.

Nick Dwyer (Nick D), who has worked on breakfast for 5 years, has this morning announced that he is off to explore his dream of working in Japan.

“Over the last five years, George has grown from a little, almost community station, that had a reputation as just being about doof and lattes into one of the greatest little powerhouses of new music and quality chat,” Nick says.

“I'm gonna miss George a lot, but most of all the listeners. This year is my 20th year doing radio in NZ and never have I had the pleasure of broadcasting to such a passionate and enthusiastic bunch of awesome people.”

George FM PD, Willy Macalister says: “I really want to thank Nick for five years of epic enthusiasm and magic radio. His passion for all things Japanese is well known, and we all wish him well as he follows his dreams!"

The new breakfast show from March 31 will be Clarke Gayford and current daytime jock Aroha Harawira.

Macalister says: “George Breakfast with Clarke and Aroha was meant to be. Aroha has been part of the George family for five years and we are stoked to have her step up into the breakfast show. As for the other guy, welcome home Clarke!"
