Geelong’s K rock celebrates the return of AFL footy with brand new brew

Reporter

To mark the return of AFL footy to GMHBA Stadium this weekend, Geelong’s K rock 95.5 has teamed up with local business Blackman’s Brewery to create K rock Football Geelong Lager.

The idea came to life on-air with a heated debate between K rock’s breakfast announcers Tom Lewis and Lauren ‘Loggy’ Temuskos about the station choice of 2026 footy merchandise.

Sick of stickers and stress balls, Loggy lobbied for a giant foam finger, but Tom’s passion for a good local won out with a footy-themed beer to get behind the Cats this season.

With K rock’s resident AFL superstars Cameron Ling and Brad Johnson backing Tom in the on-air debate, Loggy was outvoted and early morning taste-testing sessions began, with the team arriving on the decision of a beer for everyone – the classic lager with a local flavour.

With the team’s creativity exhausted after coming up with an innovational way to score themselves free beer, Tom and Loggy settled on a name for the brew that was as local as it is lazy: Geelong Lager.

The new brew will be hitting shelves from Friday next week with an eye-catching blue and white design that has been perfectly manicured to avoid potential copyright infringements from any local AFL teams!

Locals are invited to the K rock Football launch party at Blackman’s Brewery Grovedale tomorrow (Friday 13th March) from 3-6pm where they’ll be pouring the new brew on tap.

Footy fans can also grab a slab of K rock Football Geelong Lager by Blackmans Brewery before this weekend’s Geelong-Fremantle game.

K rock Football Geelong Lager by Blackmans Brewery cans are available from 3pm Friday 13th March at Blackmans Brewery Grovedale, and Thirsty Camel at the Sphinx, Oppys Norlane and Waurn Ponds Hotel.
