Adelaide’s Fresh 92.7 has announced its first major fundraiser in three years, with a 24-hour DJ Marathon to kick start its ‘Heart Beats 2020’ campaign.

Beginning at 6pm this Saturday, August 2, the community radio station will team up with local artist DJ JoSH and streaming platform Ravine for the 24-hour broadcast of “Fresh 92.7’s All Nighter at Home”.

The performance will also be livestreamed on the Fresh 92.7 website.

The marathon will take place in the Fresh 92.7 studio and was also set up with a view to giving local DJs will paid work during a time when gigs are scarce.

“Community is at the heart of everything we do at Fresh. It was really important to us to look at how can we use our own fundraising event to provide an opportunity to support local artists like those that have helped us become the station we are today,” said chairman of Fresh’s board, Kat Leese.

Fresh 92.7’s All Nighter at Home is the latest initiative from the station to help the local community during a tough 2020, throughout which it has connected the community to important news and information.

The station says it will continue to foster the media and entertainment industry with music development and production programs.

Executive manager Darren Pike says he is proud that Fresh 92.7 continues to supply Adelaide and particularly young people with music, talent, news and current affairs.

“Fresh has and gives thousands of people opportunities for future careers. Please get behind us so we can continue our amazing work for another 22 years!”

Fresh 92.7 is the #1 community radio station nationally with 190,000 listeners each week, as reported in the latest McNair Ingenuity Survey.

“While we are not going anywhere anytime soon, like many other not for profit organisations Fresh has taken a big hit this year due to COVID-19,” added Leese.

“Funds from the Heart Beats 2020 Fundraising Campaign will replace an outdated phone system that is being turned off in December, upgrade the studio and help with station running costs.”

Donations to the Heart Beats 2020 Fundraiser can be made at GoFundMe. It has already raised over $13,000.

The announcers put together this video showing how badly the funds are needed.
