Fox FM listener cashed up

Staff Writer

It sounds completely suss, but we can't figure out what the motivation would be, so we will take this on face value. In one of those 'we wish we were there' stories, a Fox FM listener called 'Jake' has called Matt & Jo this morning claiming to have found wads of cash on the road.

'Jake' has said that he was driving along Melbourne's Western Ring road at about 6.30pm yesterday and that he and about 6 other passers by were confronted by loads of cash flying around in the air. Jake had $50 and $100 notes hitting his windscreen and said it was like "driving through a cloud of confetti"

He and the others spent four hours collecting the cash strewn all over the road. Jake personally collected $8,400 in cash. The others pocketed about 12-15K.

update at 2pm: A businessman has reportedly come forward to police to say that the money is his, and police have now advised the 'anonymous' people who pocketed the cash to hand it in at their nearest police station. Good luck with that.
