Former Triple M host Andrew Denton diagnosed with heart disease

Staff Writer

Former Triple M announcer and renowned Australian comedian Andrew Denton will undergo triple bypass surgery after being diagnosed with an advanced heart condition.

Denton started out at Triple M as ‘Andrew the Boy Wonder From Indoor Cricket’, writing for Doug Mulray. He then went on to host his own show, the Andrew Denton Breakfast Show, which included the infamous House From Hell reality program.

“We wish him all the best ahead of his surgery,” Triple M wrote on their website.

He is one of the directors of Go Gentle Australia, which he established last year to lobby for voluntary euthanasia around the country.

“It’s very successful surgery,” said Gina McColl, Go Gentle Australia’s media director.

The 57-year-old has been forced to pull out of recent campaigning in light of his diagnosis.

“He needs to have it quickly but after that he’s expected to recover reasonably quickly and we’re expecting him to join the campaign again in early September, some time like that.”
