Former radio boss Jay Walkerden launches new podcast biz

Former Publisher

After departing NOVA Entertainment in March, Jay Walkerden is back in business.

The former Nova Brisbane general manager has launched Podshape, a podcasting company to help brands enter the booming audio-on-demand space.

Walkerden was under “internal investigation” at Nova following an alleged incident with a member of the Brisbane breakfast team and was later ousted over email.

“It was personally and professionally devastating to receive an email informing me that my time was up at Nova,” said Walkerden via a statement sent to Radio Today last month.

Walkerden was also head of podcasting for Nova, overseeing its partnership with Acast.

According to Podshape’s website, Walkerden is now working with small scale start-ups to large scale businesses to help them create and audio content strategy.

The new venture has already produced a series titled Corona Crazy, a series of five-minute episodes that covered the people who are “affected not infected”.

The next major release, announced today, falls into the competitive True Crime category.

The six-part series tells the almost unbelievable story of two Australia family members who disappeared within nine days of each other, back in 2016.

During the recording of the show, shocking details of the disappearance emerged. As a result, the storyline evolved moved from a missing person case to something more sinister.

Walkerden, who narrates this podcast himself, said the goal was “closure” for the family.

“Our aim with this podcast is to shine a light on this heartbreaking story and hopefully raise awareness of Robert and Dylan’s disappearance,” said Walkerden.

My Dad And Son Are Missing is out now on Apple Podcasts.
