Former 2GB host Roman Butchaski missing in crocodile country

A man who went missing while fishing in Shelburne, Far North Queensland on Sunday morning has been named as former 2GB host Roman “Butch” Butchaski.

Butchaski had hosted 2GB’s outdoor and fishing show with Gavin Pitchford and Michael Guest.

2GB’s Ben Fordham spoke to Country Caller journalist Harry Clarke who broke the story saying some of Butchaski’s personal belongings had been found including the buggy he had taken to the Olive River, and a fishing rod.

Fordham spoke with Pitchford too who told him that Butchaski is diabetic and the additional concerns he could have had an episode.

Pitchford said:

“I’m devastated. Butchey walks the banks up there regularly. He’s been fishing there forever.”
