Fitzy & Wippa talk about the prank call tragedy

Staff Writer

Popular website 'Mumbrella' held a live Google Hangout with Nova's Fitzy & Wippa this afternoon.

During the interview some questions from social media were asked but it was mostly a live interview with Mumbrella's editor Tim Burrowes.

As well as giving hints to radio newcomers on how to get into the industry, they also touched on their favourite moments from 2012 and their YouTube success (see our previous story here).

When asked who their favourite radio shows are, Fitzy said he was a fan of Merrick & Rosso who made him want to get into radio, Roy & HG, as well as Hamish & Andy.

Wippa revealed he is a massive fan of Martin Molloy and he even bought some of their work on eBay recently.

One question was bound to be asked : "Are the days of the prank call gone? Will you be doing any prank calls in light of recent events?"

They both agreed that the events of last year have definitely changed the landscape for that type of content and they don't see how a radio station could do prank calls for at least a couple of years.

Fitzy & Wippa both also felt much of the industry would have been saying "thank god that wasn't us."

The full 30 minute Google Hangout from Mumbrella can be watched below…
