Entries open for 2019 Community Radio Awards

Staff Writer

Entries are now open for community radio’s night of nights, the CBAA Community Radio Awards.

There will be over 30 categories recognised at this year’s awards, which CBAA CEO Jon Bisset says will offer an “inspiring snapshot” of the achievements of community stations around the country.

The awards aim to recognise programs, initiatives or practices that have increased a station’s capability and improved the services offered to their communities.

Bisset also pointed to record national listenership on community radio this year.

“It’s been an exciting year for our sector, with the highest levels of national community radio listenership on record,” he said.

“This is a credit to the dedication and hard work of the hundreds of stations around the country and the 25,000+ volunteers who power them.

“These Awards are an opportunity to celebrate and recognise their achievements, and how community radio stations are making important contributions to media diversity and local content, supporting Australian music and providing opportunities for participation in free-to-air broadcasting.”
