Hit 94.7 in Queensland’s Emerald region has extended its lead as the station people listen to the most.

The last survey was conducted in May 2017, when 38.3% of people said Hit was the station they listened to the most. This time around, this increased by 1.3 points to 39.6%.

The station doesn’t face much competition in the market, with second-place holder, ABC Capricornia, falling 9.1 points to 15.9%.

The only other commercial station in the region, 4HI – an AM classic hits station from Resonate Broadcasting – fell 2.2 points to 12.8%.

Hit was particularly dominant in the younger demographics, boasting 66.2% in the 10 to 17-year-olds, 51.8% in 18 to 39s, 49.7% in 25 to 39s, and 33.6% in 40 to 54s. ABC took the lead in the 55 to 64s, however it did suffer a fall of 13.2 points to 38.0%.

In Breakfast, Hit Queensland’s Cliffo & Gabi had 40.0% of the surveyed audience saying it’s the show they listen to the most, up 2.3 points from last survey.

ABC Capricornia’s Paul Culliver had 16.7% in Breakfast, down 11.5 points from last survey.

4HI, meanwhile, had 12.6%.

Hit was even more dominant in Drive, on 44.7% with its combination of Carrie & Tommy followed by highlights from the Sydney Breakfast show The Morning Crew with Hughesy, Ed & Erin.

SCA’s general manager in Central Queensland, Matthew Wex, thanked the station’s loyal listeners, advertisers and local partners for today’s result.

“Today’s fantastic results are a reflection of our station’s strong connection with the Emerald and wider Central Highlands communities,” he added. “To achieve growth in our audience across the day is outstanding and to continue to be the #1 station in market recognises the incredible work of our team.”

Despite the gains in the percentage of people saying they listen to Hit the most of all radio stations, its cumulative audience overall was down 2,500. 4HI’s was down 2,400, and ABC declined 6,300.
