Em Rusciano: “Everyone go to Kyle & Jackie O, I don’t care”

Em’s producers would’ve had a written agreement with Channel Nine to embargo this interview. By blatantly breaking that agreement, Em is jeopardising the future career prospects and professionalism of her producing team … but hey … anything to try to get those ratings up, right?

Also – what Em did to that Nine publicist is bordering on bullying … I sincerely hope that 9-minutes of radio was worth the humiliation you inflicted on your producers and that poor publicist.

I feel bad for the poor account manager at SCA who looks after Channel 9 … I wonder if Em will help this person fill the shortfall in revenue given the fact Nine will inevitably pull their advertising with the network. Methinks Em won’t.

I’ve always been told – “you’re only as good as your word”. If Em’s producers agreed to the interview on the condition of playing it out in April, then she’s broken that agreement. Some may see it as cavalier … others will see it as Em being a total liability to the network.

Sounds like sour grapes to me because 2DAY and Em aren’t getting any good guests.

Em you have to earn your stripes before carrying on like this. This could cost SCA quite a lot of money if Nine cancel their ad spend.

When you’ve been in the market as long as Kyle and Jackie then maybe you’ll get great guests and exclusives too.

I realise that Em thinks she’s being edgy, etc by pulling stunts like this (which would be totally supported by her producers and content team no doubt), but her little outbursts (like her one on Facebook and the one she had on a post on this very website a few weeks ago) are ridiculous! They make her sound like a spoilt brat! Let me guess? She doesn’t care what me or anyone else thinks? Well, she will care when no one listens to her show. Grow up Em!

Kyle and Jackie rate and do this. You can’t be on a 3-4% and behave this way. Wishing the producers the best moving forward, as if the back end isn’t hard enough as it is on this show. Not happy campers! And the yelling….. STOP!

I agree it’s super annoying having these embargoes – but it’s going to be much more difficult for Ch 9 to give you interviews now.

Why would any celebrity go on her show she doesn’t rate.

Whilst this is a childish action akin to throwing your toys out of the cot when told you can’t always have it your own way, Em is correct – The Voice just got much more publicity (and so did she) than otherwise would’ve been the case if the interview ran in April with all the other Boy George interviews on every station across the country. Channel 9 should look on the bright side of this one, a 3 share radio show has just got them more publicity for The Voice than most other radio networks will deliver – including KiiS.

Ex-crusiano as she’s known in the hallways!! Ridiculous behaviour, gone at end of year. Rumour is Gemma is moving to Melbourne next month from Sydney as there are only 2 announcers based in Sydney for 2day now. Me thinks Gemma and Em might have some interesting meetings!

Oh please.. overreaction much!? They most likely knew that KIIS had another celebrity ‘exclusive’ so 2Day got the jump on them and spoilt the party. Big deal.

SCA and Nine are solid (heck, Nine produce and pay for SCA’s regional TV news). The relationship won’t sour anytime soon. If people on this forum think listeners will tune out and go elsewhere because of Em’s stunts and rants, you obviously don’t know her audience (and how does offering a publicist a job considered ‘bullying’?).

Well done Em (and Harley)! The interview was great. And when your show and station are rating in the 3-4’s, you need to make as much noise as you can to be noticed. I say, keep on shouting!

Really unsure why everyone is comparing Kyle and Jackie to any other breaky show in Sydney?! They have been a team for over 10 years and this is Em and Harley’s first or second ratings as a team. How is that a f#@*ing comparison?

I think it should have been said – no other breakfast show has a budget like Kyle and Jackie do.
All those adds they have definitely need to pay for something.

They don’t dictate what we play on our show? They kind of do when they provide you the opportunity…. source your own damn interview with Boy George and you can play it whenever you want.

Kyle and Jackie are the best, no one dispuits that. But with celeb interview videos, stunts, posts from the celebs themselves and few original celeb interview ideas left, just how valuable is the title of ‘breakfast with the stars’ or ‘the ONLY place to hear Hugh Jackman’ or whatever? Again, KJ are killing it. Just a question in radios constantly changing space

Strange – most non-industry people I chat to rave about her show (especially the podcast).

Hope SCA keep her. For listeners she appears to be a breath of fresh air and an alternative to K&J (believe it or not – not everyone wants that).

They are owners/partners in the SCA/nine business.

Revenue might stop going to Em … it will depend on how much support she gets from management – to keep her in a job she has quit at least twice already …and in a position where she encourages listeners to go to Kyle and Jac…

She must have a lot of latent talent that only someone powerful within SCA can see .
Why would you bother otherwise?

No one is getting fired.
Revenue isn’t going to be lost.
The Voice will still rate (early on).
No one got strapped to lie detector.

I gave it another listen last week. They tried to give away the 10 K 3rd time lucky, that was a little bit funny. Because i was in on it and the yelling was validated by the intensity of the comp. So whoop! But buddy boy be a little bit careful about wanting to go home and feed the chooks… Sydney don’t like the swagger unless you are Kylish and unfortunately Kyle is fun to hate, we don’t know what you are yet.

Great PR Spin, Sometimes the worse publicity is the best and as long as people are talking about you…….Just ask any XFactor Winner.

This is SUCH an obvious publicity stunt…methinks the woman does protest too much!! All a tad melodramatic.. it’s not Braveheart, love!!!

Lets not be idiots about this – Both Channel 9 & Hit get a good publicity run out of this.
