Double J express themselves prior to launch

Staff Writer

It's now less than 24 hours until a new digital radio station launches. ABC's Dig Radio is ready to become Double J at midday EST tomorrow.

In the leadup to launch the channel is broadcasting one song over and over – N.W.A's 'Express Yourself'. It's not just that version but also the 1970 original and covers by The Audreys, Wagons, Darren Hanlon, Labrinth, Katalyst and many more.

It's a tribute to a day in 1989 when triple j staff went on strike in protest of a government decision to ban N.W.A's 'Fuck Tha Police' from Australian radio. The station protested by playing 'Express Yourself’ on a loop for 24 hours.
