Digital Radio – the stats

As the industry gets ready to broadcast live in 2 weeks to celebrate the 3 year anniversary of the launch of DAB+, it has been announced that the sales of digital radio's is climbing.

In the second quarter of this year 74,991 were sold, up nearly 4,000 from the same time last year.

The most digital radio's sold so far was in the 4th quarter of 2011 with a total of 141,384

Since launch 908,311 digital radio's have been sold

A couple of interesting Nielsen stats came out of this weeks survey result too….

• nearly 1.3 million people listened to digital radio in the 5 cap cities

• time spent listening on a digital radio is more than 12 hours
