Digital Radio sales up

Commercial Radio Australia has released figures showing that 88,000 digital radios were sold in the first quarter of 2012, bringing the total number sold since launch to 833,000.

The first quarter sales for 2011 were 54,000. CRA CEO Joan Warner said; “The industry is very pleased with the take up of digital radio.  Although discretionary retail spending seems to be down, digital radios are affordable and continue to sell well.”   

The Nielsen Media Research ratings show that cume to digital stations, or to terrestrial stations digital broadcasts, is around 10% in the five state capitals.
