Daniel Underhill confirms ARN departure

Reporter

Daniel Underhill has confirmed his departure as ARN’s Head of Content – Operations.

The news comes hot on the heels of a tough set of results for FY25, with ARN’s self-described “year of transition” seeing net profits fall by 68%.

Underhill had been at ARN for nearly six and a half years.

In a LinkedIn post, Underhill said “Over the past several years at ARN, I’ve had the privilege of leading Content Operations nationally – aligning people, systems and strategy behind some of Australia’s most recognisable audio brands.”

“It was a period of significant transformation. We retired a 25-year-old playout system and replaced it with a leading-edge platform – then pushed it to places few operators have attempted. The result: one of the most dynamic and flexible broadcast networks in Australia, operating seamlessly across four time zones. Infrastructure built to match the scale and pace of a rapidly evolving media landscape.”

“More rewarding than the technology, though, were the people I had the privilege to work alongside to build it.

“I’m taking time to consider where I can create the most impact next.”

“Currently in stock on my shelves: time, perspective and a healthy interest in caffeine. If there’s something meaningful to be built at the intersection of content and systems, I’m listening.”

Prior to ARN, Underhill spent almost seventeen years in programming and creative roles at NOVA Entertainment.

@Fordy – Never got to work with Dan Underhill unfortunately. Heard he was a top bloke and a great operator.

How’s the industry going? Been almost a year since I left it…
