DAB+ Survey #5: ABC Jazz ends The Edge’s Sydney stronghold
Survey day is now about more than just traditional ratings, with DAB+ digital now a bigger player in the radio market than ever before.
As such, GfK also releases the results of DAB+ Survey #5 for 2018 today.
ABC Jazz has toppled The Edge Digital in Sydney for the first time this year, rising to a 108,000 cume in People 10+ despite losing -14,000 audience, with The Edge taking an even harder fall to 94,000 (-37,000).
The battle for Melbourne was once again tight, but triple j’s digital sister station Double J emerged victorious, reporting an audience of 74,000 (+21,000) ahead of Coles Radio, OLDSKOOL HITS and The 90s iHeartRadio.
No change in the #1 DAB+ station for the sunshine capital, with Coles Radio maintaining its stronghold in Brisbane on 44,000 cume listeners (-8,000).
Meantime Adelaide had new joint leaders, as OLDSKOOL HITS and The 90s iHeartRadio each turned in strong performances to each finish with a cume audience of 22,000.
Finally, Perth continues to be a fortress for smoothfm, with the station winning its third consecutive survey.
These DAB surveys don’t ring true for me. The results seem random and inconsistent across the cities. I highly doubt they are reflective of reality.
