Nova, KIIS FM & ACE nominated for Coronavirus Radio Awards
The world’s best radio ideas to come out of the coronavirus pandemic will be recognised at the upcoming Radiodays Europe Conference in Lisbon this December, and several Aussie shows have been nominated.
Nova Adelaide’s Ben & Liam, KIIS 106.5 Sydney and the Ace Radio Network’s Jon Vertigan have all been nominated, picked out of more than 300 ideas submitted by industry professionals globally.
Ben & Liam’s were picked in the Best Social Media Video category for their Barbership Roulette segment, which saw the boys give each other truly horrible lockdown haircuts.
The team at ARN’s KIIS 106.5 were also nominated in that category for their social distancing content including Intern Pete’s ‘Social distancing to the extreme’.
Finally, ACE Radio Network’s Jon Vertigan landed a nomination in the Best Parody category for his fake race call of ‘The COVID Cup’, which went viral including an appearance on Sunrise.
Other categories up for grabs include Best Virtual Event, Best Virtual Concert, Best On-Air Promo and Best Community Spirit.
Nominations are now being taken for two additional categories, Best Podcast and Best Journalistic Content, and submissions are being taken until September 7.
“When we joined with Benztown to open this page back in March, we knew that the world of radio and podcasting was full of innovative people with a special connection to their audiences and listeners,” P1 Media Group’s Ken Benson said.
“What’s emerged from these awards is that radio is more than ever at the heart of communities and is a place in which listeners put their trust.”
