UK's Absolute Radio Chief Operating Officer Clive Dickens is leaving the station after almost five years to join Southern Cross Austereo in Sydney.

Clive’s departure comes as talk of the station’s sale nears completion. He’ll continue as COO at Absolute Radio for a couple of more months before taking up the position of Director of Digital and Innovation at SCA.

Donnach O’Driscoll – Chief Executive, Absolute Radio said:

“We wish Clive the very best as he embarks on a new chapter of his life and career in Australia. His contribution to the business over the last five years has been nothing short of enormous.”

Dickens commented:

“During an amazing 2012 Absolute Radio achieved a twelve year record RAJAR high in audience including going to Number One Commercial Brand in 15+ Males in London plus being voted Commercial Radio Station of the Year. I am really sad to leave but it has always been an ambition to live closer to my family in Australia and this opportunity to work within the wider Asia Pacific Digital economy is the chance of a lifetime. Absolute Radio is in great shape and I will be leaving it in great hands.”

In the below SCA release Dickens also said:

“With over 30 years commercial radio experience in over 30 countries I am now thrilled to be joining SCA – one of the leading media companies in the Asia Pacific region, and a business that I have long admired.”

"The potential for growth in the Australian and wider Asia Pacific digital economy with SCA ensures this role is the opportunity of a lifetime. I can't wait to start working with some of the most talented broadcast teams, who are creating some of the most iconic digital and audio content in the world.”

Rhys Holleran, SCA’s CEO said:

“Our business continues to see extraordinary growth across its digital platforms and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have Clive’s expertise on board in this ever-evolving space. Yet another outstanding addition to our incredibly talented senior management group.”
