The Melbourne International Comedy Festival is officially underway, with Nova 100’s Chrissie, Sam & Browny launching the event this morning during their annual comedy festival OB from Melbourne’s Lower Town Hall.

It all kicked off at 5am with Nova 100’s Early Breakfast Show hosts, Dean Thomas, Jack Charles and Ash Gardner broadcasting live from the Lower Town Hall.

Chrissie, Sam & Browny entertained the crowd from 6am to 9am.

It was a full-on few hours, with Zoe Coombs Marr, Alex Ward, Mark Watson, Dave Thornton, Tom Gleeson, Adam Rozenbachs, Denise Scott, Becky Lucas, Judith Lucy, Nova 100 regular Dave O’Neil and Urzila Carlson among the big names dropping by, returning to the live stage to give listeners a taste of what to expect from their upcoming shows.

Irish comedian David O’Doherty also spoke about how tough the last two years have been without being able to perform.

Before the pandemic hit, he’d been doing over 250 shows a year, over two decades.

In addition, several listeners won $1000 throughout the morning.

Nova 100 has again joined forces with the festival for this special month of comedy in Melbourne.
