Chris Smith to host Mornings on 2SM and the Super Radio Network
Chris Smith will take the reins from John Laws on Super Radio Network and host mornings on 2SM and across their network in NSW, QLD and the Northern Territory in 2025, commencing Monday January 6.
Managing Director and Owner of the SRN George Caralis said:
‘The Super Radio Network welcomes Chris Smith home. He started his career with 2VM and 2PK.
With a Federal Election coming up next year Chris is by far the best with his political knowledge and understanding of the landscape. He will steer the ship for us and is the best natural broadcaster in radio.
This will be a changing of the guard in talkback in 2025.’
Managing Director and owner of the SRN Despina Priala said:
“This is a story of redemption and Australians forgive where they know someone’s done the hard yards. He’s been in recovery for two years. We applaud that. It’s been a tough time, but haven’t we all been through them?
We have been inundated with positive comments since it was hinted he would return. He, and we are so excited to get started on January 6.”
It will be Chris Smith on 2SM Mornings. Mark Levy on 2GB. Who will take on the distinctly wobbly ABC Mornings shift is yet to be announced in this ‘changing of the guard.’
Sydney’s talk radio Drive shifts will also be in flux next year with Chris O’Keefe announcing today he is leaving 2GB Drive and Richard Glover being replaced by Chris Bath for 4 days per week on ABC Radio Sydney (Charlie Pickering will present Thank God it’s Friday).
Jen Seyderhelm is a writer, editor and podcaster for Radio Today.

Just in time for the Christmas Party!
Has 2SM already had their Christmas Party?
Great to giving another opportunity. Christmas, people need to realise second chances it be given.
…except this isn’t his second chance, Smithy has previously been in trouble for misconduct on *at least* three occasions if I’m not mistaken! Others have seen media careers permanently end over far less.
Chris Smith might be able to drag some listeners away from 2GB’s post-Hadley morning show, but at what cost to 2SM’s credibility and reputation in the long run?
Has had more comebacks then Lazarus
Why would any company employ this guy?
Oh no! I like Levy a lot, I love Smith more. Sorry GB you may have lost me in the morning.
He’s had plenty of chances, sure. The last one is at a time where (quite rightly) those types of behaviours aren’t tolerated any more. However at TNT he was sounding amazing and had some really great and engaging topics. I can’t wait to give it a go.
Maybe they shouldn’t wait until January 6 however.
CarPlay, CarPlay, CarPlay please! VLC and a streaming link is very 2005, maybe I’ll have to message them on ICQ to find out if they have any plans for an app.
Smith has had more comebacks than John Farnham. 2sm not doing themselves any favours.
Pathetic. Women will be blacklisted for being “difficult” and he can have this many comebacks? Yuck
Twitter (X) has been ruthless about this news.
