Following the departure of much-loved 2GB Afternoons host Chris Smith, there has been much speculation about what the media personality will do next.

According to an interview with journalist Michael Smith, he’s now is exploring opportunities in TV and says he’s “through the process of being thrown off the program” and is “loving life”.

“Being free of any kind of work at the moment is very change,” said the former Macquarie Media star. “I’ve worked consistently for 38, 40 years and it seems really strange to be out of GB.”

Chris also took the opportunity to point out that ex-stablemate Ray Hadley, or anyone who follows Alan Jones – is guaranteed to be a ratings winner.

“[Jones] is essential, anyone that comes after Jones will be successful,” he said. “You take Jones out of a framework like 2GB and it will hurt you.

“I don’t know whether 2GB is going to see that into the future and if Jonesy is going to continue, I don’t know.”

In a statement on July 2, Macquarie Media confirmed that 2GB and Smith had ended their working relationship.

“Neither 2GB nor Chris Smith will be making any further comment on the matter,” said the statement.

“We wish Chris well in his future endeavours. Chris would like to thank 2GB listeners for their ongoing support.”

Chris not sure if my post ‘sent, so here I go again. How refreshing it is to watch you on Sky. I am really hoping you can gain a permanent spot there. Your across everything, so natural, talking to ordinary Aussies, so smartly dressed too. Long time Sky watcher, good luck on Sky.
