Chris Holland appointed Music Director and Workday Announcer at Geelong’s K rock
Chris Holland has been appointed the new Music Director and Workday Announcer at K rock in Geelong.
Chris has spent the last four years as Music Director at SCA.
K rock Content Director Tom Lewis says it’s exciting to have Chris join the team in Geelong.
“When we decided to add a local Music Director to the team, we knew we needed someone who was going to be great both on air and off. Proficiency in the role was vital but so was team fit. We wanted someone who was as good in the hallway as they were in the job.”
“Chris’ reputation certainly preceded him and we were really fortunate that we were able to snap up such a fantastic talent. It was quite serendipitous.”
Chris – an ACRA winner – is a Geelong local, having moved to the area in late 2022 with his young family.
He says “Mr. Brightside was quoted at the bookend announcements of my recent 4+ year Triple M stint, so today I turn to the noted scholars Chumbawamba when I respond ‘I get knocked down, but I get up again, you’re never gonna keep me down,’ etc. etc.”
“After my most recent position was made redundant, I was looking at several options, mainly outside radio to be honest. This opportunity, however, is absolutely too great to refuse. It’s where I live, it’s the skills I have, it’s what I’m passionate about. Grant Broadcasters gave me my start in commercial radio 19 years ago and I’m thankful to them for welcoming me back. Stoked.”
Chris will broadcast weekdays on K rock, driving local content as well as steering the sound of the station musically in his new role.
