Choc on The Rocks as smoothfm Festival Returns

Former Features Editor

The smooth Festival of Chocolate in the Rocks returns to Sydney for the fourth consecutive year for a weekend of decadence in August.

Australia’s most talented pastry chefs, chocolatiers and ice creameries will once again showcase their signature chocolate and desserts over the August 12 and 13 weekend, with tantalising chocolate sculptures, desserts and beverages created exclusively for the festival.

“In 2016 the smooth Festival of Chocolate attracted over 120,000 people and this year will be even bigger and better,” NOVA Entertainment’s Sydney general manager Luke Minto said. “Not only is the event a great experience for festival attendees but is also an important brand extension and partnership opportunity for smoothfm.”

Long term partners Lindt, Callebaut and Knebel Kitchens return to the festival – which is in it’s fourth year – and they will be joined by some exciting new partners including Piazza D’oro, Mr Black Espresso, Endeavour Beer and Baci Perugina.

The festival will also give chocolate-lovers the opportunity to witness cooking demonstrations from industry heavyweights Kirsten Tibballs (Savour School Melbourne), Jean Michel Raynaud (La Renaissance Patisserie), Jodie Van Der Velden (Josophan’s Fine Chocolates), Giovana Falanga and Riccardo Falcone (Executive Pastry Chef, Urban Purveyor Group).

The smooth Festival of Chocolate in the Rocks will feature over 100 exhibitors spread across the harbourside location, including Gelato Messina, Black Star Pastry, The Original Chocowrap, Rocco’s Dessert Jars, and for the first time, guests can even buy Domuts for their beloved pooch.

Entry is free, with the festival running from 10am to 6pm on Saturday 12 August and Sunday 13 August.
