CBAA Conference Keynote Speaker

With the annual CBAA Conference and Gala Dinner the premiere events on the community broadcasting calendar in November, they have announced their keynote speaker for this year.

Journalist/activist Wendy Bacon, who was part of the women’s liberation, green bans and alternative journalism movements in the early 1970s, will be this year’s keynote address.

Wendy will discuss alternative media from a public, political and personal perspective during her Keynote Address, sharing her thoughts on the importance of community broadcasting in starting conversations and creating change, and nurturing an open society, strong democracy and vibrant culture in Australia. 

This address will provide glimpses and insights from Wendy’s 45 year journey from student editor and prisoner, squatters’ newspapers and filmmaking, feminist justice campaigner,  journalism educator, investigative journalism to recent experiments in activist journalism.

The CBAA Conference is the premier event on the community broadcasting calendar and will take place from 12 – 15 November in Terrigal NSW. More information here.
