In the spirit of the 10-year challenge, Bauer Media’s Greg Stocks interviewed former Aussie radio host Carmela Contarino on his podcast Life Chats With Greg recently.

Carmela reflects the 10 years that have passed since she secured her first big radio gig and dream job as the co-host of the Mike E and Carmela Breakfast show on The Edge and Mix 106.5.

She would go on to work on Aussie TV, and had gigs with NOVA Entertainment and Triple M. Now Carmela works as a talent booker and entertainment content producer for Bauer Media.

The former radio host chats with Greg about the ups and downs of her roller-coaster ride of hosting commercial radio at a young age in a major metro market.

Carmella also reveals that she believes she peaked at age 25 and opens up on how ARN got rid of her.

“I remember there was a point where we were pulled off air and we weren’t even allowed to say goodbye,” she says.

“They’re a bit weird in Australia, where if it’s your last show and they’re getting rid of you… they get you to finish off the rest of the week.

“I remember sitting there and feeling like everything was in slow motion and everything was crashing down.”
